TV and Tunes: More Cowbell

So, several years ago on SNL (Saturday Night Live), they did a skit with Christopher Walken and Will Ferrell where Walken keeps saying he needs more cowbell in the song. I thought it was stupid when I first watched it.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Mie9hhQTUM

But, then I realized that one of my favorite songs, Just the Two of Us by Bill Withers and Grover Washington, Jr., had cowbell in it. And recently I discovered another song that has cowbell in it - Funkytown by Lipps, Inc. So, I looked online and found out that I had never noticed some of these songs that I like also have cowbell in them:

Just the Two of Us by Bill Withers and Grover Washington, Jr.
Funkytown by Lipps, Inc.
Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson
Goodbye Earl by the Dixie Chicks
Jive Talkin' by the BeeGees
Working for the Weekend by Loverboy
Rhythym is Gonna Getcha by Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine.

There were several others that I have that they listed as having cowbell, but I only listed the ones that I could actually hear the cowbell.

Tunes: BarlowGirl's Hallelujah Light Has Come

My sister sings in an ensemble at her church. This past Christmas during their Living Christmas Tree presentation, her ensemble did the verses for this song, Hallelujah Light Has Come. I have had this song running through my head lately. It's very beautiful. It has a haunting melody. These are the lyrics:

Hallelujah (Light Has Come!)

Hmmm my Baby
Heaven sent you to me
All the world’s been praying
Who will Save?

But who am I
That here tonight
I hold the one
Who'll Bring us life

Hallelujah,
We've been found
A child is born
To save us now, Jesus

Hallelujah light has come
A Savior who will set us free
A Promise for those who believe

Do you hear the Angels
Sing for you my baby
Men and kings have come to
Bow to you

But here in my arms
So close to me
The son of God
Now all can see

Hallelujah We've been found
A child is born to save us now
Jesus Halleluiah light has come
A savior set us free

So praise to God on high
He has heard our cry

Tunes: Always For You by Michael English

If you're like me, there are certain things that immediately invoke a memory for you. A certain smell that automatically reminds you of a grandparent that has passed away. A quote that reminds you of your favorite school teacher. A book character that reminds you of a friend who is like that character. There are lots of things that invoke memories in me.

I was just listening to Michael English sing "Always For You". I first heard this song when I was at Winthrop University. I had never really been much interested in contemporary Christian music until I got involved in BSU (Baptist Student Union) at Winthrop University. (Now they call it Baptist Collegiate Ministries or BCM.)  Anway, several friends introduced different artists to me and I fell in love with a lot of Christian music.

I only have to hear the first few chords in the intro music for this song and it reminds me of my second year at Winthrop. Isn't it weird how that happens?

Always For You
(sung by Michael English)
(Matt Huesmann/John May)
It's the early side of morning
Dawn is casting off its light
I haven't closed my eyes for hours
I've been awake in the still dark night.

I can't get you off my mind
No solutions can I find for you
Sometimes there's never a right word to say
But there's something that I can do

Chorus:
I'll be thinking, I'll be praying, always for you
I'll be hoping, I'll be loving, faithful and true
All through the day and all through the night
I will be there though far from your sight
I'll be thinking, I'll be praying
Always for you, always for you

Though miles of space are between us
Our hearts won't separate
I'm bound in constant prayer for you
Till your pain has been fully erased

Perhaps the logic's beyond us
Only God need know the reason why
But if you must cry out from a broken heart
Praise His name with each breath of life

A peace so calm, a love so strong
Always for you
Your pleading words God has heard
Always for you

Chorus

Tastes, Tomes, and Tunes

I'm TP. I may talk about food (tastes), books (tomes), or music (tunes). I also might talk about TV. You never know. But, these are my preferences, my opinions. Please keep any comments clean.

I'm a Christian and want to honor God in everything I say and do. I apologize if I offend anyone thru my words, but you are free to do your own blog.
